24 Feb Body Positive! Fashion Brand Missguided Just Launched New Mannequins That Are Totally Relateable
So, we will have to give Kudos to the high street giant Missguided for another major score in their efforts to change the narrative and status quo on body image with their campaigns and attitudes. Last December they released unretouched images of real life models in different shapes and sizes which turned out to be a major hit for the brand.
Today, they launched in their stores new set of mannequins that reflect the diversity in their customers-something I personally respect and appreciate them for. The different mannequins can be seen with Freekles, virtiligos, stretch marks and another had a scarf like a hijab. This is their quest to promote inclusivity and make their customers and people around the world that perfect doesn’t exist but being comfortable in our skins and in our differences is the best and only way forward. Themed as #makeyourmark mannequins the fashion brand in a short statement on the company’s blog- put it succinctly
“#makeyourmark…because f*ck perfection, it doesn’t exist. As part of our #KEEPONBEINGYOU campaign and our ongoing mission to inspire babes the world over to love themselves, we felt it was time we took our pledge to stop retouching our models, and bring it IRL.
So say hey to our #MAKEYOURMARK mannequins! Featuring natural body features like stretch marks, freckles and vitiligo, our mannequins can be seen at our Bluewater and flagship Westfield Stratford store.”
At the time of Press, the campaign had recieved over 29,000 likes on IG and many retweets on twitter- with their customers pouring out their gratitude and support. See some comments from twitter and more images below.
