The Senegalese-born Creative Director of the Sukeina brand, Omar Salam wove a binding spell with his showcase at the GTB Fashion Weekend. Tagged “Gates”, the stunning collection told a tale of devine femininity, and showcased formfitting dresses, his usual fish net fabrics and classic frill-fringe finish, Salam delivered spectacularly.

The designer also extensively showed off his expertise as an accessory designer as his model cast were all bedecked in jewelled headpieces. Four-inch heels completed the elegant ensemble as the models sashayed to sombre, captivating music. A lone enchantress began the walk holding the audience spellbound for minutes. The rest of the cast followed in dressy monotones of reds, blacks and whites, with the occasional pop of colour. Another interesting thing about the collection was the embroidery on the outfits.

For makeup, the models donned smoky eyes and nude lips

“Clothing is a language within itself,” and if this intricately designed collection is anything to go by, Salam will certainly be steering the conversation for a long time to come.
