31 Oct HALLOWEEN 2018: ALL OUR FAVORITE LOOKS FROM HOLLYWOOD
According to history, All Hallows Eve or Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated each year on October 31st. It originated as far back as the eighth century, with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (festival of the Dead), when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. This day signified the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with death. The Celts believed that on the night before the New Year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. For many, Samhain also is the beginning of the spiritual New Year.

In commemoration of the event, the Celts would wear costumes, usually made of animal heads and skins, and participated in several activities including fortune telling and ritualistic bonfires. Today, most of the Celtic traditions have been displaced by modern practices but Halloween is still observed and enjoyed as an annual holiday. Americans have since revolutionized the observance as they do most things and all around the world, Halloween is known to be celebrated with activities such as trick-or-treating and costume parties.
