Louis Vuitton collaborateв with Kansai Yamamoto in order to create Resort 2018 collection.

Kansai Yamamoto is an author of samurai faces on model’s dresses, scarfs and leather purses from recently showed Louis Vuitton Resort 2018 collection. Those prints were also seen on invitations, stickers and Instagrams of celebrities and editors invited on Japanese show.
For younger audience Kansai Yamamoto sounds new, however, the art of the designer is dated from the second half of XX century. In 1971 Kansai showed his first collection.
David Bowie was in love with Kansai’s work, hence, invited the designer to work for the series of costumes for Ziggy Stardust 1972-1973 tour.
In the nineties Yamamoto has already been famous and successful with his Avant-garde style collections available for purchase all over the world.
The designer was inspired with Japanese festivals, therefore he decided to leave fashion and start doing art. Yamamoto’s ‘super shows’ were always full of dance, music, acrobatics and martial arts elements.

In 2016 Kansai has returned in fashion business. Kansai have chosen the best elements from all his previous work: prints, textures and silhouettes, which hit the fashion world nearly 30 years ago, and returned them in modern world.
Louis Vuitton has recently surprised fashion industry with unexpected collaboration with Supreme and has now invited Yamamoto to add Japanese authenticity to Cruise 2018 collection, which was demonstrated today in Miho museum.
