21 Sep KANYE WEST, DRAKE, NICK CANNON AND TYSON BECKFORD: THE FEUD TO END ALL FEUDS
Kanye West gets right with his spirit as he addresses Nick Cannon, Drake and Tyson Beckford in a four-post series on Instagram yesterday. Nick Cannon had needlessly insinuated that Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian may have been romantically linked with Drake while on the show Everyday Struggle. Kim has since refuted these claims but Nick made an appearance on VladTV recently where he revisits talks about Kim, stating that she was really conscious of her looks when they were together and her altered looks stem from “a lot of insecurity and not really loving yourself for who you are”. Kanye began his redress with Nick saying “I understand that you used to date my wife, but you know you giving an interview don’t mention my wife,” he says. “If someone brings my wife say, ‘Hey I respect that man I’m not speaking on that.’ Don’t be making no suggestions like nobody f**ked my wife.” As seen here.
Relations between Drake and Kanye have been rather strained due to a feud between the former and Kanye’s label mate, Pusha T. Pusha’s track “Infrared” off his DAYTONA album, produced by Kanye, was a diss aimed at Drake. Drake fired back at Pusha with “Duppy Freestyle” talking about how he helped Kanye with some tracks on his The Life of Pablo album. Kanye had taken responsibility and apologized earlier this month, a stance he reiterates in his redress to Drake in the video saying “If I wasn’t in a medicated state, I might have thought or had the wherewithal to say, ‘Hey Pusha, don’t diss drake on my beat,’ and I spoke about that and took accountability for that.” Drake had taken to the stage in Chicago and tactfully changed the lyrics to his song “Know Thyself” to throw a shot at Kanye, saying he “flopped” but that was months ago. Apparently, Drake hasn’t let it out of his system as proved with his recent release with French Montana “No Stylist,” re-igniting the feud with Kanye West.In the song, Drake raps, “Keep it a G, I told her don’t wear no 350s ’round me.” Kanye’s new Adidas shoes are called Yeezy 350s.
Most of the current controversy seemed to arise from a contrived notion that Drake’s love interest from his famous track ” In my Feelings” is Kim Kardashian. Kim has addressed this on an Instagram post but Drake has made no move to confirm or negate it. A fact that doesn’t sit well with Kanye.“If I had a girlfriend from Chicago and her name was Rinita and you was married to Rihanna I wouldn’t make a song called “Riri.” So when you were like, ‘Aw, I don’t know where it come from,’ you too smart for that bro. You know where that come from.”
Kanye also implied Drake is a little sloppy in one of the videos because Drake allegedly tried to mention Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner’s names in an unreleased song even though Drake is friends with Travis Scott. He referenced that he got permission for his racy lines with “XTCY”
Tyson Beckford also bears the brunt of Kanye’s discontent. The model and actor made some comments on one of Kim Kardashian’s Instagram posts, body shaming her “Sorry. I don’t care for it personally,” he wrote. “She’s not real, doctor fucked up on her right hip.”
Kim clapped back, “Sis we all know why you don’t care for it,” adding a frog, tea, and painted nails emoji. The exchange had caused an uproar with many deeming Kim’s reply homophobic and unnecessary.
Addressing all three, Kanye said finally in the last video “As far as Tyson Beckford go, don’t speak on my wife bro. Like none of y’all speak on my wife period,” and emphasizing the important of his family and his interest in a peaceful resolve, he continues “What is you talking about I’m married. We in love. We a family…. As men, all three of y’all, come talk to me. Y’all holler at me. We’ll work it out. We’ll come to a resolution”
Since Kanye posted his videos, only Nick Cannon has replied. In the same gesture of solidarity, he stresses that Kanye or anyone else cannot tell him what to say. He posted two videos of his own to say “I honestly got to say this, my dude,” he said. “I’ve never said anything disrespectful or harmful to ya, in my opinion, to your marriage, or your union. I salute it, keep it going.”
“But you are not gonna tell me what I can and what I can’t say,” he added. “I’m a solid individual. Someone asks me a question, I’m gonna answer it to the best of my ability. I’m gonna give my opinion. And uh, there ain’t no harm, no foul. But I know it got your spirit feeling weird. Holla at me. You know where I’m at, you know what I’m saying…” The rest of the video can be seen here.
The response seems well-meant enough but people have been taking sides since both videos were released with some saying Kanye was justified in his defense of his family and others insisting that expecting people not to speculate about his wife is unrealistic. While the drama with Drake has played out sufficiently on both ends, it is hard to say if this was a right move or not. Pretty big of him to have admitted his errors though, makes a reconciliation more feasible. We’re waiting to see where all of this will lead… Hopefully this is the feud that ends all feuds.
