Strength & Vulnerability! Song Bird, Mary J Blige Covers The Edit

There’s no one quite like Mary. Her craft at juxtapositions are faultless.  The way she’s able to pull strength from her weakness and sells the idea that in vulnerability lies strength – the combinationation of restraint and candidness- the quite storm within, the way she negotiates her truth, sells it to you while pulling you into her world- her world that is sometimes chaotic but filled with soul and rhythm. In this issue of  Net- a-porters digital magazine ‘The Edit’ she talks about her trials,tribulations, her 13th studio album titled ‘Strengtg of a woman’ that debuted #3 on the billboard charts and how she has managed to rise above her failed marriage of 13 years to her ex- manager Kendu Isaacs who without her knowledge fell in love with another woman.

According to the interview by  Sanjiv Bhattacharya  Mary J was at her worst at the time was filming of  the movie Mudbound where she played an exceptional  role as the strong character of Florence Jackson. A role that has already been recognized by the Gotham Awards with a Breakthrough Actor nomination and at the Hollywood Film Awards with a win for Best Breakout Actress. Ms. Blige attributes the success of this to the pain from her divorce. Mudbound” will be released worldwide on Netflix and in select theaters on November 17.
