08 Nov VLISCO RELEASES “BOLD ROMANTICS” CAMPAIGN FEATURING 3 POWERFUL WOMEN
Fabric brand, Vlisco, has released a new fabrics collection dubbed Bold Romantics. Featuring a rainbow of colours, from pinks to blue and mint, the fabrics feature interesting patterns of baroque flowers and trimmings, but also bold cars and boxing gloves.
For the campaign, Vlisco chose 3 powerful women – Anita Erskine, Fafa Gilbert and Ayokunmi Abdul. These women are bold and have overcome trials in order to fulfill their dreams. In this campaign, they portray how change begins with the day-to-day. Every morning, they look into their closets and select the outfit for the day ahead. Bold colours and structured pieces, juxtaposed with soft ruffles and frills. Shot in Anita Erksine’s Grandparents’ home in Accra, with chimerical paintings from Ghanaian artists, Daniel Jasper, Heavy J, Fakira and Stoger, the Bold Romantics campaign is Bold, Colourful and Inspiring.
TV host and communications entrepreneur, Anita Erskine exudes infectious energy and vibrance in a dress designed by Ghanaian clothing brand, Yartel. She believes,
“Presidents won’t change the country, it is you and I who will change the country”
Fafa Gilbert is a Food writer and Content creator, who uses social media as a tool to put Ghanaian cuisine on the world map. A London resident from the Volta region in Ghana, she expresses both cultures in her recipes in her own unique and authentic way. Her dresses were designed by Luxury clothing brand, Lumiere and Ghanaian Fashion designer, Sadia Sanusi.
“Have a legacy, be a legacy and leave a legacy in the making” – Fafa Gilbert
“Time or money shortage drive creativity and focus, so embrace them!” – Ayokunmi Abdul
It is evident that these words guide Ayokunmi Abdul who left an office job to pursue her dream of developing the fashion industry in Africa. She is the founder of LKA Fabrics in Nigeria and she has impacted the lives of various women through her textile business. She has learnt that constraints are not obstacles, but opportunities. Her outfits are designed by Nigerian designer, Lisa Folawiyo.
